About Us
Since 1986, our members have been learning from each other and making lasting friendships.
We are
an organisation of around fifty plus members who enjoy making things with wood, especially Tasmania's specialty timbers, and sharing their knowledge and skills. We welcome new members, men and women, young or formerly young woodworkers wanting to learn, share or develop skills.
We learn
It all begins with an idea or perhaps something you’ve seen. Our membership has a wealth of knowledge and lived experience with wood. We also run regular Saturday sessions on different specialty topics and more structured courses on woodturning that are suited to beginners, intermediates and advanced.
We visit
Not all activity goes on at the Glenorchy workshop. We arrange regular visits to member workshops which provide an opportunity to see how other people set up, adapt and work within their various work spaces. We also arrange for members to visit professional workshops and other areas of interest as well as several social events organised through the year.
Our location
We are located at the back of the Cosgrove High School, 286 Main Road, Glenorchy
Directions:
Turn up Felicity Lane, alongside the used car lot on Main Road Glenorchy. Drive up the school access road with the oval on your left hand side. You will come to the last building where the road turns sharp right. The workshop will be immediately on your right. It is easily identified with a large dust extraction system on the outside wall. Park in the parking bays or on the adjacent grassed areas.
